Common questions

Frequently asked.

What is Project THRIVE?

A student wellness program delivered by JD Health & Wellness in partnership with Salem-Keizer Public Schools. Trained mentors — certified Community Health Workers — meet weekly with students for short check-ins on attendance, academics, and well-being.

Is THRIVE therapy?

No. THRIVE is not therapy, and mentors are not therapists. Mentors are trained to recognize when a student needs clinical support and help connect them to the right resource.

Is there a cost?

No. There is no out-of-pocket cost for THRIVE — it is provided through the partnership between JD Health & Wellness, Salem-Keizer Public Schools, State Grants and your insurance provider.

Who can enroll?

Any student at a Salem-Keizer school where THRIVE is active. We're expanding gradually across the district — if your school isn't yet participating, contact us and we'll let you know what's next.

How do I enroll a student?

Enroll online here. Both student and parent sign digitally. Takes about three minutes.

What if my student needs clinical support?

Your student's mentor will help you connect to appropriate clinical resources. For immediate mental health needs, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Is my data private?

Yes. Student information is protected under FERPA and only shared with authorized school staff and THRIVE team members involved in your student's support. Information is not shared outside the school without parent consent.

Can we stop at any time?

Yes. Participation is voluntary. Contact your student's school counselor or the THRIVE team to withdraw consent at any time.

How is THRIVE different from a school counselor?

School counselors handle academic planning, clinical referrals, and crisis intervention. THRIVE Mentors handle the day-to-day relationship-building and early-warning work that counselors don't have time for. The two roles complement each other — THRIVE doesn't replace a counselor.

How do I bring THRIVE to my school?

Get in touch and we'll set up a conversation with your principal and district team.
